"말씀이 찾아와 임하다." 설(說).래임(來臨). 

성경묵상. 호세아 3장

음란한 여자 고멜은 호세아의 사랑에도 불구하고 또 다시 바람을 핍니다.(1절. 너는 또 가서) 정욕 때문에 일어난 순간의 실수가 아니었습니다. 고멜은 그걸 너무 즐겼습니다. 1절의 "건포도 과자를 즐겼다."는 표현은 다른 남자(우상)이 주는 것들이 사실은 얼마나 하찮은 것들인지 고발합니다. 하나님보다 돈과 명예와 쾌락이라는 다른 우상들을 상습적으로 따라가 사랑하는 이들이 얻을 수 있는 만족은 고작 '과자 한봉지' 뿐이라는 것입니다. 하나님으로부터 주어진 기쁨과 만족이 아니라면 결국 금방 다 사라질테니까요. 

고멜은 이제 아예 다른 남자를 따라 집을 나가버립니다. 그 결과는 너무나 비참했습니다. 그 남자에게 배신당하고 어딘가에 노예로 팔려버린 겁니다. 호세아는, 그러나 호세아의 사랑은 그녀를 찾아냅니다. 그리고 음란한 자신의 아내를 은 열다섯개와 보리 한 호멜 반의 값을 지불하고 다시 집으로 데려옵니다. 값을 지불하고 회복시켜주는 것! 그것을 성경은 구속(Redemption)이라고 합니다. 

호세아가 자신의 사랑을 배신하고 떠난 후 비참한 노예가 된 고멜을 구속(redemption)한 값이 은 열다섯개와 보리 한 호멜 반이란 것은 참 의미심장합니다. 당시 노예의 몸값은 은 30세겔 이었습니다.(참조: 출 21:32) 호세아는 가난한 선지자였기에 자신이 영끌해 만들 수 있는 모든 돈의 최대치는 '은 열다섯개'였던 것 같습니다. 그래서 호세아는 자신이 구할 수 있는 최대치의 곡물 '보리 한 호멜 반'을 모아서 몸값의 나머지 절반을 마련한 것입니다. 호세아는 그렇게 재결합을 위한 합의금을 지불하고 기어이 고멜을 다시 집으로 데려옵니다. 그리고 그녀를 학대하거나 구박하지 않고 다시 한번 그녀를 사랑의 맹세로 설득합니다. "다른 남자를 따르지 말라 나도 네게 그리하리라."(3절)

호세아 3장의 이 이야기는 정확히 예수님의 사랑 이야기입니다. 예수님은 우리를 죄에서 구속(redemption)하여 주시기 위해 은 30세겔에 팔리셨습니다. 예수님과 우리와의 재결합 합의금이 은 30세겔이었단 말입니다. 이렇게 호세아의 눈물겨운 사랑은 우리 하나님의 사랑을 보여주며, 그 사랑은 십자가에서 확증되었습니다. 그렇다면 이제 구속의 은총을 입어 집으로 돌아온 고멜이, 아버지의 집으로 돌아온 오늘 우리는 어떠한 마음으로 어떠한 삶의 모습으로 살아가야 하겠습니까?

Oct 4, Friday. Daily devotion(Queit Time)[Hosea 3]

The promiscuous woman Gomer, despite Hosea's love, she committed adultery again.(v. 1: "You must go again"). This was not just a momentary lapse due to lust; Gomer really revels in it. The phrase in verse 1 about her "love the sacred raisin cakes" reveals how trivial the things given by other men (idols) truly are. The satisfaction gained from pursuing idols like money, fame, and pleasure, instead of God, amounts to nothing more than "just a bag of snacks." Without the joy and fulfillment that come from God, these pleasures will quickly fade away.

Gomer ultimately leaves Hosea for another man, leading to her miserable fate. She is betrayed by that man and sold into slavery. Yet, Hosea's love seeks her out. He redeems his lewd wife by paying fifteen pieces of silver and a measure and a half of barley. This act of paying a price to restore someone is what the Bible calls redemption.

It is very significant that the price Hosea paid for redemption was fifteen pieces of silver and a homer and a half of barley. At that time, the price for a slave was thirty shekels of silver (*Exodus 21:32). As a poor prophet, it seems that the maximum amount Hosea could muster was fifteen pieces of silver. Thus, he gathered as much barley as he could to make up the rest of the price. Hosea pays this sum to secure their reconciliation and brings Gomer back home, persuading her not with abuse, but with love: "you must not be a prostitute or be intimate with any man, and I will live with you."(v. 3).

The story in Hosea 3 mirrors the love of Jesus. Jesus was sold for thirty shekels of silver to redeem us from sin. The cost of our reconciliation with God was indeed thirty shekels. Hosea's poignant love illustrates God's love for us, a love confirmed on the cross. Now, having received the grace of redemption and returned to the Father's house, how should we live? What kind of hearts and lives should we embody?
