호세아(Hosea) 11장

하나님의 불붙는 사랑 @하나님이 배신당하시다!

하나님은 이스라엘이 어렸을 때, 그들이 애굽에 있을 때에 그들을 사랑하셨습니다. 어렸을 때란 가장 약할 때란 뜻이고, 애굽은 그들이 노예로 살아갈 때란 뜻입니다. 하나님은 우리가 가장 연약할 때 우리를 찾아와주셨고, 우리를 사랑하셨습니다. 우리가 가장 가난할 때 우리를 부요케 하셨습니다.

하나님은 걸음마를 가르치셨고, 그 크신 팔로 안아주셨고, 그들의 상처를 고쳐주셨으며, 그들을 사랑의 줄로 이끄셨고, 그 목에서 멍에를 벗겨주셨고, 먹을 것을 주셨습니다. (3-4절) 그런데 그들은 그 사랑을 전혀 알지 못했습니다.

그렇게 이스라엘은 호세아의 음란한 아내 고멜과 같이 하나님의 사랑을 배신하고 세상 우상들을 쫓아 하나님의 품을 떠났습니다(2절).

하나님의 사랑이 철저히 배신당한 것입니다. 진심어린 사랑을 베풀었지만 배신당했다면 그 마음은 어떠해야 합니까? 원망, 분노 등의 감정으로 불붙지 않겠습니까? 그런데 하나님의 마음은 오히려 긍휼이 온전히 불붙는다 하십니다.(8절; 아드마, 스보임은 소돔과 고모라와 함께 멸망당한 인근 작은성들의 이름입니다. *참조: 신명기 29:23절)

하나님은 반역자요 배신자들인 우리를 향해 그렇게 긍휼이 불붙고 사랑이 불타오르시는데, 오늘 우리는 하나님을 향해 어떤 마음입니까?

박영선 목사님은 호세아서의 하나님을 “쩔쩔매시는 하나님”이라 했습니다. 참으로 공감가는 표현입니다. 그 무엇도 부족함이 없으신 우주에 가득찬 영광을 가지신 이가 아무것도 아닌 먼지같은 우리 때문에 쩔쩔매십니다. 그것이 바로 하나님의 사랑입니다.

그 사랑을 우리는 진정 아는 사람들입니까? 그렇다면 우리는 이렇게 노래할 것입니다.

“내 주 예수 주신 은혜 한 없건만 내 주앞에 이 적은 것 다 드리니 주 예수여 내 정성을 받으소서. 

주 날 위해 보배로운 피 흘리사 그 귀하신 생명까지 다 주시니 내 천한 몸 이 생명을 왜 아끼랴. 

주 날 위해 그 귀하신 몸 버리사 이 내몸을 피값으로 사셨으니 내 생명도 주 예수께 바칩니다.”

Hosea 11

“How do we respond to God’s burning love?”

God loved Israel when they were young, when they were in Egypt. When they were young, it means when they were weakest, and Egypt means when they were living as slaves. God came to us when we were weakest, and loved us. When we were poorest, he made us rich.

God taught them to walk, held them in His big arms, healed their wounds, led them in His love, took the yoke off their necks, and gave them food to eat (vv. 3-4). But they did not know that God’s love at all.

In this way, Israel, like Hosea's adulterous wife Gomer, betrayed God's love and left God's embrace by pursuing worldly idols (verse 2).

God’s love has been completely betrayed. If you have shown sincere love but have been betrayed, what should your heart be like? Wouldn’t it be filled with emotions like resentment and anger? However, God’s heart is completely filled with compassion (verse 8; Admah and Zeboiim are the names of nearby small cities that were destroyed along with Sodom and Gomorrah. *Reference: Deuteronomy 29:23)

God is so compassionate and loving toward us, the rebels and traitors, so what kind of heart do we have toward God today?

Pastor Park l, Young-sun called the God of Hosea a “Clingy God.” This is a truly relatable expression. The One who has the glory that fills the universe, who lacks nothing, is troubled because of us, who are nothing but dust. That is the love of God.

Do we truly know that love? If so, we will sing like this.
